The GAVE Story

The Global Alliance for Values-based Education (GAVE) started on November 6th, 2022 out of a need to provide a connective space for all individuals and organisations working in values-based education and with values more broadly to come together to learn about, support, and advance research, practice, and policy into the role of generative values on human development/wellbeing, cultures, curricula, and systems across the world.

We see values-based education as “an understanding of what matters most to any organisation or system that values learning, development, caregiving, collaboration, and wellbeing.”

 

What We Do

We are an international, interdisciplinary organisation made up of volunteer individual and organisational members.

Together, we aim to explore how to best educate, train, and support teachers, scholars, practitioners, caregivers, leaders, and citizens to navigate the key challenges currently influencing human learning, growth, and development (e.g. globalisation, changing demographics, social fragmentation, technological advances, etc.) via activities, such as:

    • Courses, workshops, seminars, webinars
    • Research, funding, publications
    • Conferences
    • Policy
    • Communications and outreach

The organisation is led by a Chair, Executive Committee and Steering Committee, and its work is achieved through seven Standing Committees for: Research, Education, Advancement, Policy, Communication, Membership, and Conference.
